A Mobile Equipment Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining all mechanical equipment throughout all MCC operations while complying with all applicable mining regulations and MCC policies at all times.
Qualifications- 1-3 years of experience as a mechanic and some formal training
- Reliable attendance and safety record
- Ability to weld and use oxy/acetylene cutting torch
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, and drive train components
- Physically able to work with heavy components and outside during adverse weather conditions
- Available to work overtime, weekends, callouts, nights, and holidays
- Ability to multitask
- Perform safety inspections of all working areas at least once per shift as required by federal mining regulations and as conditions warrant.
- Conduct workplace examinations to ensure a safe environment for employees.
- Address and take corrective actions for identified deficiencies; notify supervisor if repair is beyond the employee’s capability.
- Perform corrective actions in compliance with all applicable federal/state regulations and company policies.
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on all mobile equipment, including diesel and gasoline powered units, drive trains, brakes, air and hydraulic systems, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance of all mobile equipment.
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work area, completing thorough cleanup after each job.
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in full compliance with MSHA and DOT regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an extensive set of tools as assigned.
- Operate mobile equipment only after receiving proper task training and following safe operation guidelines.

- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Formal education or certification in Automotive or Diesel Technology (preferred)
- Experience working in an industrial environment (preferred)
- Working 8‑12 hour shifts.
- Operating in hot, cold, muddy, icy, or dusty conditions for extended periods.
- Twisting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing as necessary.
- Lifting 65+ lbs regularly.
