This position is Accounting Coordinator at Sames Auto Arena, part of the Finance Department in Laredo, TX. The role reports to the Director of Finance and falls under the full‑time, exempt FLSA status.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain fixed asset detail records
- Perform account analysis
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements (as needed)
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable control accounts to detail aging
- Reconcile cash receipts and disbursements
- Assist the Finance Team with coding of receipts and disbursements into the general ledger
- Maintain and audit box office ticket sales reports, parking sales, and telephone deposits for events
- Correctly code and process invoices for submission to Corporate Accounts Payable
- Review and edit all check runs for accuracy
- Coordinate vendor invoice payments, including inquiries, vendor forms, and new vendor set‑up
- Support venue employees with the purchasing system, providing guidance with vendor information, coding, receiving, etc.
- Create invoices for 1099s in preparation for payouts and tax reporting
- File various records and reports
- Perform administrative support tasks and/or clerical work as assigned
- Excellent math skills and strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software, and willingness to learn accounting and financial reporting software
- Ability to input data into a computer to record sales transactions
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Good listening and communication skills, with ability to follow instructions and ask for clarification
- Ability to respond well to questions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, interacting with all staff levels, management, and clients
- Ability to read and interpret written information
- Good problem‑solving skills and organizational ability
- Independent work capability, as well as a team player
- Flexibility to work day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours as needed
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
- Subject to a credit check and background screening
Education and/or
Experience:
Associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. Minimum of one (1) year experience in accounting highly desired. Experience working in a public assembly facility preferred.
Close vision for review of accounting information on a PC monitor and hard copy output is required, as well as regular use of hands for typing and coding general ledger information.
