This position performs clerical and customer service duties to support departmental operations.
Major Duties
* Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.
* Sorts and distributes incoming mail.
* Provides court dates as requested.
* Makes copies.
* Delivers files and other documents to various offices.
* Maintains office supply inventory.
* Performs any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
* Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
* Skill in the use of modern office equipment.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
* Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
* Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Complexity/Scope of Work
* The work consists of related receptionist and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
* The purpose of this position is to provide customer service and clerical support for office operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Occasionally
* Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
* Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
* Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

* Working in high temperatures.
* Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and/or standing.
* Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.

Other Requirements/Information
* Must possess a valid and current Texas Driver's License or a Texas Identification Card.
* The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
* This position is not covered by Civil Service; however, all other Webb County policies apply.
Valid Texas Driver's License or Texas Identification Card
* * If the applicant holds an out-of-state Driver's License or Identification card, a State of Texas Driver's License or Texas Identification Card must be obtained prior to employment.
