About the Role
The Tariff Specialist III will play a critical role in managing customs-related projects and programs across a broad range of complexities. This position requires in-depth knowledge of global tariff classifications, customs regulations, and trade compliance frameworks. The Tariff Specialist III will independently assess objectives and select appropriate methods or strategies to ensure accurate and compliant tariff determinations.
What the Candidate Will Do- Actively seek opportunities to improve processes, generate new ideas, and improve efficiency when solving problems
- Use data to identify areas of potential opportunity, generate solutions and guide decision making
- Model agile thinking by quickly adapting to shifting priorities while ensuring work remains on track despite changes
- Lead and manage daily Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations across multiple customer accounts, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations.
- Manage and execute post-entry correction activities, including protests, Post Summary Corrections (PSCs), and duty drawback filings.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a related field
- In-depth knowledge of the General Import and Export Tax Law (LIGIE) and its application within customs operations.
- Strong understanding of Mexican Foreign Trade Law and its practical application in import/export operations
- Solid knowledge of the Mexican Tax Code as it relates to customs and trade compliance
- Bachelor’s degree
- Advanced proficiency in both Spanish and English
- Advanced computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Tools
