Job Summary
Assist with Planetarium office functions and serve as a cashier for events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Serve as cashier.
- Communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all employees.
- Answer telephones, written and in‑person inquiries about the Planetarium.
- Provide backup support to other Planetarium staff.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite and other office‑related software packages.
- Maintain telephone etiquette, excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.
- Learn and use planetary equipment and technology, including a cash register.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Enrolled at least half‑time: 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates; 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
- Current and complete file with Office of Financial Aid.
- Submit FAFSA application annually.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an eligible non‑citizen status (alien registration number).
- Meet all TAMIU “Satisfactory Academic Progress” (SAPP) policy requirements.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Proficiency with personal computer and common software applications.
- Organizational and multitasking skills to meet deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service, interpersonal communication, and problem‑analysis skills.
- Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements- Position requires on‑campus face‑to‑face interactions.
- Maintain a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required; work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but must not conflict with the class schedule.
- Promptly complete all required training.
- Input hours worked daily and submit time sheet biweekly.
- Position may require moving and lifting objects and materials as necessary.
- Subject to funding and/or need.
- Pay: $8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly.
