Job Summary

Assist the Department of Student Disability Services employees and perform general office duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handles routine office inquiries from employees and students.
  • Assists in the day‑to‑day maintenance and responsibilities of the assigned department.
  • Responsible for clerical functions including answering phones, filing, scheduling, organizing, conducting background research, maintaining records, etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half‑time: 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident, or have an alien registration number or be an eligible non‑citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
  • Must submit proof of graduation if enrolling in less than half‑time for the final semester.

  • Proficiency in use of a personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements
  • Position requires on‑campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but must not conflict with the class schedule.
  • Prompt completion of all required training.
  • Input hours worked daily and submit time sheet biweekly.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
Pay and Eligibility

Rate: $8.00 per hour for up to 19 hours weekly.

All positions are security‑sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.

To be eligible for Student Employment:

  • Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college‑level courses or accepted remedial courses.
  • International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester.
  • International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines.
  • Must maintain the required GPA (2.0 for undergraduates, 3.0 for graduates).
  • Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half‑time for their final semester; proof of graduation must be submitted.
