Job Title
Peer Mentor (Proyecto Amigo) Agency Texas A&M International University Department Outreach and Pre College Programs
Job SummaryProvide peer mentoring and academic support to students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform peer mentoring and academic advising to program participants.
- Meet individually with students weekly.
- Maintain current and confidential records and information.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with all University staff.
- Prepare written reports related to student mentoring and other related assignments.
- Meet regularly with the program’s Supervisor for staff meetings, training, and/or workshops.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Communicate weekly with students who are absent from mentor meetings.
- Maintain current and confidential records and information.
- Assist in developing, organizing, and presenting at Proyecto Amigo workshops and events.
- Meet regularly with Proyecto Amigo program manager for staff meetings, training, and/or workshops.
- Enrolled at least half‑time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
- Meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
- Current TAMIU student with 60 SCH or more at the time of appointment.
- Experience working with college/university students in an educational setting.
- Ability to identify TAMIU resources and the connected office associated with support initiatives.
- Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
- Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements- Position requires on campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
- Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
- Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule.
- Promptly complete all required trainings.
- Submit time sheet biweekly.
- Subject to funding and/or need.
- Pay of Rate: $9.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly.
- All positions are security‑sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
