Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy (Hybrid Position)
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for this non‑tenure track, 12‑month faculty position, beginning Fall 2027 in Laredo, Texas.
Primary duties include teaching core Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) topics—neuroscience, movement science, neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal core, physiology, clinical diagnostics, interventions, prosthetics and orthotics, clinical medicine, pharmacology, radiology, pediatrics, evidence‑based practice, and ethics—and mandatory scholarly research and service activities. Duties also involve delivering didactic and immersive lab courses, interacting with students, administration, faculty, staff, ensuring curriculum delivery based on evidence and CAPTE requirements, and promoting community and university service.
Responsibilities- Teach core DPT course subjects in a hybrid setting with face‑to‑face attendance.
- Co‑teach didactic and immersive lab courses.
- Engage in scholarly research and meet CAPTE expectations.
- Develop and implement a scholarly agenda.
- Participate in community and university service activities.
- Ensure curriculum delivery that meets CAPTE and contemporary practice standards.
- For Clinical Assistant Professor: degree in physical therapy (BS, MS, or DPT); if not DPT, completed or in candidacy for a terminal academic doctoral degree by start date.
- Active, unrestricted Physical Therapy license in any state.
- Minimum of 3 years full‑time clinical practice following licensure.
- Evidence of professional or community service engagement.
- Evidence of contemporary teaching expertise (post‑professional certifications, continuing education).
- Satisfactory student evaluation record.
- Evidence of original research design, conduct, or dissemination.
- For Clinical Associate Professor: additional 5 years full‑time teaching experience at assistant professor rank, at least 4 peer‑reviewed publications or presentations, minimum 2 service activities at department, college, or university level, and satisfactory student evaluations.
- Strong encouragement of candidates with a CAPTE Self‑Study Specialty certification or equivalent higher‑education certification in active learning, hybrid education, teaching models, or curriculum.
