Job Summary
Assists the teacher in implementing educational, recreational, and social activities planned for children.
Major DutiesAttend lectures, conferences, and other educational programs as directed to support professional development and growth as an aide.
Remains attentive to each child's needs and assists in promoting their health, safety, and welfare.
Maintains the classroom in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
Rotates to assigned centers as program needs arise.
Assists with classroom responsibilities in the absence of the teacher and the teacher aide.
Operates the morning bus route only on an emergency basis, as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:Preferably, some college education (child development / early childhood courses / or experience working with preschool children).
Be bilingual and have experience working with preschool-age children.
Maintain all local, state, and federal guidelines for the position on an annual basis.

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Adjusting or moving objects weighing 30-40 pounds in all directions.
Working in low temperatures.
Working in high temperatures.
Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
Constantly
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Working in noisy environments.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Other Requirements/Information
Must have a Texas Driver's License and must provide proof of vehicle insurance.
The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
This position is not covered by Civil Service; therefore, it is subject to all the Webb County Policies and the Webb County Head Start addendum.
