This position is responsible for providing English/Spanish interpretation and translation support for court operations.
- Attends court to facilitate communication between court officers and Spanish language speakers.
- Translates documents as needed.
- Assists Court Coordinators with clerical tasks as needed.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of English/Spanish interpretation and translation principles.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of court and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in the use of modern office equipment.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have at least one (1) year of related experience.
- The work consists of related interpreting and administrative duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide interpretation and translation services in support of court operations. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
Occasionally
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
- Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Working in noisy environments.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
- Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
Constantly
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
- This position is not covered under Civil Service; however, all other Webb County policies apply.
