JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the daily activities of all cleaning and linen staff. Maintains the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive and orderly condition. Supervises and coordinates the work activities of the Environmental Services and Linen personnel. Achieves department objectives by providing quality environmental services.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs daily rounds, identifying quality issues/concerns and assures timely resolution.

Consistently supervises work activities of staff to ensure quality on a daily basis through close observation and interaction.

Prepares work assignments and schedules, in advance when appropriate, and adjusts schedules when necessary.

Ensures that all work is completed within the allotted time frame on a daily basis.

Performs quality inspections as directed and documents follow-up.

Inventories and orders supplies, maintaining adequate levels of stock within budgetary guidelines. Researches and completes all necessary documentation to order supplies in a cost effective, neat and accurate manner.

Assists with accurate and timely performance surveys/studies as directed.

Identifies needs and assists in developing and maintaining operating budget.

Prepares and provides ongoing communication with staff in various settings as appropriate.

Prepares and provides training for staff, as needed and annually, including competency validation.

Develops and maintains documentation and other criteria as required by all regulatory agencies.

Directs training sessions to ensure that each department member has been properly trained to use all products and equipment as outlined in the Policy and Procedure manuals for Environmental Services.

Serves as a resource and ensures communication for staff by communicating new industry, cleaning, and operational trends. Communication methods include and conducting department meetings and training sessions.

Develops and maintains an organizational structure and staffing schedules.

Inspects areas throughout the facility to ensure sanitary, attractive and orderly condition of the facility.

Schedules buffing/waxing as needed throughout the facility to ensure that floors are kept at their optimal shine.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • At least 2 years experience in an Environmental Services supervisory/managerial capacity required. Experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Some prior supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrates self‑starter attributes with resourceful approaches to problem resolution.
