Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties which include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture and other procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice, recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record per IPM guidelines, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting in front desk coverage as required.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily clerical operations, including answering multi-phone lines and making copies of documents as necessary.
  • Accurately file patient charts, including scanning documents into files as necessary.
  • Schedule patient appointments, return visits, and specialist appointments as necessary.
  • Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology required.
  • Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol).
