As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure.
What you'll be doing- Provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality dialysis treatment; gather patient stats before and after treatment, initiate treatment, monitor patients during treatment, terminate treatment, and collect patient blood samples per physician orders.
- Prepare machines for hemodialysis treatments, clean and disinfect machines after treatment, and conduct machine safety checks and log results for quality control, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed.
- Adhere to safety measures including personal protective equipment; work under the supervision of a Charge Nurse and comply with company policies, procedures, and state/federal laws and regulations; participate in staff meetings and continuing education.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
- Experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.
- Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency; includes completion of USRC training course in theory and practice of hemodialysis within 8 weeks of hire.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state.
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national certification program within 18 months of hire and maintained in good standing; state requirements may apply.
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN STATE SPECIFIC BOARD OF NURSING REQUIREMENTS
California- Must possess current Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) certificate from California Department of Public Health (CDPH) at time of hire OR hired at a USRC location recognized by the state as an approved dialysis technician training program and obtain California state certification (CHT) within six weeks of completing training.
- Must possess current Certified Nursing Assistants — Dialysis Technicians (CNA-DT) certificate from Maryland Board of Nursing OR hired at a USRC location recognized by the state as an approved dialysis technician training program and obtain Maryland CNA-DT certificate within three months from date of hire OR out-of-state applicants must have active BONENT certification and provide proof of initial application for CNA-DT certification.
Mexico
- Must have New Mexico dialysis technician certificate at time of hire OR hired at a state-approved training program and obtain New Mexico state certification within six months of completing training;
New Mexico certification of hemodialysis technician is required for out-of-state applicants with active state or national certification; must obtain New Mexico state certification prior to working as a Certified Hemodialysis Technician. - After January 1, 2024, initial applications for the certified hemodialysis technician will require a national certificate. The applicant must submit proof of a national credential.
- Hemodialysis technician students must have a current basic life support credential prior to and while in contact with patients.
- Must have Ohio dialysis technician intern certificate at time of hire OR hired at a USRC location recognized by the state as an approved dialysis technician training program and submit application for Ohio dialysis technician intern certificate no later than four weeks before program completion.
- Must obtain Ohio Board of Nursing Certificate (OCDT) within 12 to 18 months of enrollment in the USRC OCDT program.
- Must possess current Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHDT) certificate from Oregon Public Health Division at time of hire OR must obtain Oregon dialysis technician provisional certificate within three weeks of training completion and obtain CHDT within 18 months. An Oregon Provisional Certification is valid for six months and can be renewed once.
