This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty position. Primaryduties will include teaching core DPT topics, includingneuroscience, movement science, neurorehabilitation,musculoskeletal core, physiology, clinical diagnostics,interventions, prosthetics and orthotics, clinical medicine,pharmacology, radiology and pediatrics, evidence-based practice,and ethics. Participation in scholarly research and service activities is expected to comply with CAPTE expectations. Dutiesalso include demonstrating knowledge, skill, and pedagogicalexpertise to teaching or co-teaching didactic and immersive labcourses related to areas of expertise;
having the ability to interact effectively with students, administration, faculty, andstaff; ensuring the delivery of curriculum based on evidence,contemporary clinical practice, and CAPTE requirements; establishing and implementing a scholarly agenda; promoting,helping, planning, and participating in community and universityservice. This position requires face-to-face interactions through aregular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
This non-tenure track faculty position supports a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Positions may be filled at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor rank based on qualifications and program needs. Multiple start dates areanticipated to support phased program development, curriculumdelivery, laboratory immersion experiences, accreditation activities, and student progression across the eight-semestercurriculum. The curriculum combines online instruction withon-campus learning activities.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences is currently developinga unique 8-semester Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The program is expected to submit its application for candidacy to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) in the Fall 2027. The mission of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences is to prepare professional healthcare practitioners to improve the well-being of complex and diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate for the Clinical Assistant Professor rank must hold a degree in physical therapy (BS, MS,or DPT) from an accredited institution; if that degree is not aDPT, the candidate must have earned or be in the candidacy phase ofa terminal academic doctoral degree (e.g. DSc, EdD, PhD) by thestart date of employment. Hold or be eligible for an active,unrestricted Physical Therapy license in any state.
Minimum ofthree (3) years of full-time clinical practice following licensure.
Demonstrate evidence of professional or community service activities/engagement. Demonstrate contemporary expertise in areasof teaching (i.e. post-professional certifications, continuing education, etc.). Evidence of satisfactory student evaluations.
Demonstrate evidence of participation in the design, conduct ordissemination of original research.
