Position Overview

As an HR Generalist at our Laredo site, you will serve as a strategic partner in supporting the full employee lifecycle while helping drive a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace. This role is responsible for a broad range of human resources functions, including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, leave management, training and development, and HR compliance.

Working closely with leaders and employees across the organization, you will provide guidance on employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, workers' compensation, unemployment, FMLA administration, occupational health and safety, and regulatory compliance. You will also support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and maintain accurate HR records while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies.

The ideal candidate is a bilingual (English/Spanish) HR professional with experience in a manufacturing environment who thrives in a fast-paced setting, possesses strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, and is passionate about building positive employee experiences while supporting organizational success.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the onboarding process, including conducting new hire orientation, verifying employment eligibility (Form I‑9/E‑Verify), and coordinating training and integration activities.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource by providing guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits and HR services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records while ensuring data integrity and compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Support employee relations by assisting with workplace investigations, resolving employee concerns, and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Participate in the investigation of workplace accidents and near‑miss incidents, identify trends and root causes, and partner with leadership to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure safe work practices are followed, personal protective equipment (PPE) is properly utilized, and safety standards are maintained.
  • Partner with management and safety professionals to implement, promote, and sustain workplace health and safety programs.
  • Respond to employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive matters as appropriate.
  • Participate in disciplinary meetings, performance discussions, investigations, and employee separations while ensuring consistency and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations by interpreting requirements, recommending best practices, and supporting policy development and implementation.
  • Stay informed of emerging HR trends, regulatory updates, and employment law changes to support continuous improvement and organizational compliance.
  • Keep HR leadership informed of matters that may impact company policies, legal compliance, employee relations, or organizational risk.
  • Support additional HR initiatives, special projects, and business needs as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Solid understanding of Human Resources principles, employment laws, and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting key HR functions, including onboarding, employee relations, workplace investigations, and safety initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), Microsoft Office Suite, and other HR‑related technologies.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
