Position: Intern- Information Technology (OIT-SIS)

Job Summary

Assist the Office of Information Technology with the daily functions of the Student Information Services group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain reports based on data from the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Ensure compliance with Texas A&M International University rules and standard administrative procedures, Texas A&M University System policies and regulations, PCI security standards, FERPA, HIPAA, copyright laws, and the State of Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 202.
  • Provide local program support for SQL student database applications.
  • Prepare and modify programs to extract data from SIS.
  • Support University departments regarding the usage and maintenance of SIS and associated data.
  • Provide analytic support to department/projects/requests regarding SIS.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Enrolled at least half‑time (6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates, 3 credit hours per semester for graduates).
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency using a personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

  • Position requires on‑campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
  • Maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Schedules are created by the department based on needs and must not conflict with class schedule.
  • Promptly complete all required trainings, submit time sheet biweekly.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
  • Pay: $10.50 per hour for up to 19 hours weekly.
  • All positions are security‑sensitive; applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation and employment is contingent upon verification of credentials and other information required by institutional procedures.
