General Labor
Assists Lift Station Operator to meet Texas Commission Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations. Inspects and maintains water treatment plant systems, lift station, and sewer lines to ensure proper operations.

- Helps maintain plants to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
- Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Inspects and maintains lift station and pumps.
- Repairs and installs valves, plugs, pipes, lateral/drain lines, and sewer manhole rings and covers.
- Prepares and completes concrete work; conducts traffic control.
- Serves on-call for equipment-related emergencies.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of chemicals and materials used.
- Knowledge of welding.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and tools.
- Knowledge of handheld tools and equipment, such as a sledgehammer, cutter, ratchets, measuring tape, or heavy bars.
- Knowledge of plant equipment and operations.
- Skill in mechanical operations.

Education and Experience
- At least three (3) months of general experience. Experience in plumbing, mechanical repair, maintenance, or labor work is preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
Effective January 7, 2008, all persons in safety-sensitive functions/positions, as per City of Laredo Drug and Alcohol Policy definition, shall be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
