Job DescriptionResponsible for managing the City’s wastewater collection infrastructure, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with environmental regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, including hiring, staffing, training, performance appraisals, and resolving employee concerns.
- Oversees vehicle inspections, inventory, parts procurement, and repair scheduling to maintain fleet readiness.
- Conducts safety tailgate meetings to educate employees on safety protocols.
- Drives City vehicles for official business as required.
- Performs additional related tasks as necessary.
- General arithmetic and budgeting.
- Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Principles and practices of employee supervision.
- Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and City of Laredo regulations.
- Safety protocols and precautions related to water/wastewater treatment.
- Planning, organization, and time management.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least ten (10) years of experience supervising wastewater collection or stormwater systems.
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out‑of‑state license, a Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- TCEQ Wastewater Collection II License – must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
- NASSCO Certification – must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
All applicants will undergo a background check and a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test. Random testing will be conducted for safety‑sensitive positions in accordance with City policy.
