Pay: $10.00 hourly for up to 15 hours per week
Position OverviewThe program intern will provide program, administrative, event, and outreach support for L.I.F.E.’s youth development programs and community initiatives. This position will assist with educational camps, the annual county fair, youth ambassador activities, service projects, and community engagement efforts. The intern will gain hands‑on experience in nonprofit operations, youth engagement, event coordination, agriculture‑related programming, and community outreach while supporting L.I.F.E.’s mission to promote agriculture, horticulture, home economics, and vocational/industrial trades.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of L.I.F.E. events including educational camps, youth programs, service projects, and the annual county fair.
- Support communication with youth participants, parents, community partners, volunteers, and organizations such as 4‑H, FFA, art programs, and homemaker programs.
- Assist with youth development activities, including L.I.F.E. Jr. Board initiatives, ambassador activities, and community service projects.
- Help coordinate service projects such as food drives, blanket drives, pet adoption events, or other community‑focused initiatives.
- Track student participation and assist with program documentation, evaluations, attendance records, and reporting.
- Provide administrative and logistical support, including preparing materials, organizing files, assisting with schedules, and supporting event preparation.
- Assist with marketing and promotional efforts, including social media content, flyers, outreach materials, and other communications to promote L.I.F.E. programs and events.
- Participate in meetings with L.I.F.E. staff, youth ambassadors, and community partners to support program planning and feedback.
- Provide professional customer service and support when interacting with students, parents, families, volunteers, and community members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the operations and mission of L.I.F.E.
- Enrolled at least half‑time (6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates, 3 credit hours for graduates).
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
- Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
- Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non‑citizen with an alien registration number.
- Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and event‑related responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and respectful demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively with youth, parents, volunteers, community partners, and the public.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
- Ability to assist in a small team environment, take initiative, and support a variety of program and event needs.
- Interest in youth development, education, agriculture, nonprofit work, community engagement, event planning, or public service.
- Attention to detail when maintaining records, preparing materials, tracking participation, and supporting events.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and represent L.I.F.E. and TAMIU in a professional manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Other Requirements- Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but must not conflict with class schedule.
