Primary Responsibilities
The GN Graduate Nurse, under the supervision of an RN, will assist in ensuring the provision of quality care that promotes the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychological well‑being of each resident as determined by resident assessments and individual plans of care.
Essential Functions- During rounds observes, assesses, documents, and reports resident condition/changes
- Assures implementation of care plans as directed
- Administers medications as prescribed
- Conducts rounds with physician and records visits in clinical records
- Performs narcotic reconciliation with incoming and outgoing shifts
- Identifies significant changes in the condition of residents and takes necessary action per facility policies and procedures
- Oversees and monitors aides
- Initiates and completes incident and accident reports per facility policy
- Discharges residents per facility policy
- Completes nursing assessment for physician calls prior to contacting physician on any change in resident condition
- Communicates with resident’s point of contact when they ask for status updates or if there is a change in condition
- Other special projects or functions may be assigned at times by the Director of Nurses and/or the Administrator
- Has completed a Registered Nurse program at an accredited vocational school or college
- Must be working toward testing for a Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas
- Experience working in a skilled nursing facility is preferred
