Overview

Job Title: Undergraduate Research Assistant (ACS-PRF)

Salary: $12.50 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assist research projects related to foamed-frac fluid used in hydraulic fracturing for water sensitive shale formations under supervision of the Principal Investigator.
  • Research and collect data using complex techniques and procedures.
  • Perform experiments, simulations, and data analysis.
  • Assist with data management and perform basic analyses.
  • Meet deadlines for science publications as required.
  • Carry out general laboratory maintenance.
  • Work long hours as necessitated by experiments.
  • Additional related duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in regional scientific conferences and publications in peer-review journals upon successful completion of assigned projects.
Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours per semester) for undergraduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.8 for undergraduates.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Preferred Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering (or program). Prior research experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with common software applications on a PC.
  • Ability to organize and multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.
Physical and Other Requirements
  • Position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions and a regular on-campus schedule that aligns with class times.
  • Prompt completion of required training and biweekly time reporting.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
  • Pay rate: $12.50/hour for up to 15 hours weekly.
  • All positions are security-sensitive. Employment may require a criminal history check.
