Job SummaryThe Undergraduate Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Ke Yang and assist with research projects in intelligent engineering systems, autonomous technologies, reliability engineering, and artificial intelligence. Responsibilities include hands‑on research activities, data analysis, experimental validation, and technical documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with data collection, preprocessing, and management.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize technical papers.
- Assist with programming, simulation, or AI model implementation (depending on background).
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and research documentation.
- Participate in regular research meetings.
- Perform other research‑related tasks as assigned.
- Enrolled at least half‑time, 6 credit hours per semester.
- Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0.
- Meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
- Have an interest in engineering research.
- Experience in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis, Statistics, or Robotics.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer workstation with common software applications.
- Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
- Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Other Requirements- Position requires on‑campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
- Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
- Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but must not conflict with class schedule.
- Promptly complete all required training.
- Submit time sheet biweekly.
- Position is subject to funding and/or need.
- Pay rate: $12.50/hour for up to 10 hours weekly.
