Operator - Telecom

Our operator position in the LJA Telecom division is a key role where you will safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, directional drills, and Vac‑Tron/Hydro‑Vac machines, load/unload equipment, and execute job scopes while following strict safety procedures.

As an Operator at LJA Telecom you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment such as excavators, directional drills, and Vac‑Tron/Hydro‑Vac machines, as well as loading/unloading equipment and accurately executing job scopes while following strict safety procedures.

• Operating a variety of equipment, including excavators, directional drills, Vac‑Tron, or Hydro‑Vac
• Loading and unloading equipment from transport vehicles
• Following all safety requirements and using appropriate safety equipment and procedures
• Reading and executing job scope accurately; correctly decoding standard utility marking

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required

• Minimum 1 year experience safely operating machinery such as excavators, directional drills, Vac‑Tron, or Hydro‑Vac
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions for heavy equipment operation; traffic laws and regulations relating to the operation of assigned equipment
• Ability to bend, climb, and squat to perform job duties in the field
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
• Hand and finger dexterity sufficient to safely operate tools and equipment
• Ability to detect odors and fumes as necessary for safe work performance
• Capacity to walk, stand, and work outdoors for extended periods in various conditions
• Adequate hearing and vision to perform duties safely and effectively
• 21 years or older to be considered for this position
• Willingness and ability to travel for project sites and team coordination
