Lead Heavy Duty Truck Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Heavy Duty Truck Technician to provide technical leadership in our Laredo maintenance shop. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Class 8 tractors and flatbed trailers while mentoring technicians and helping ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient shop operations.

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, electrical systems, drive trains, brakes, suspension, steering, and chassis components.
• Diagnose and repair Class 8 tractors and trailers from bumper to bumper.
• Conduct PM inspections and ensure repairs meet company quality standards.
• Troubleshoot OEM electronic systems using diagnostic software and tools.
• Assist with major component repairs and overhauls.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to shop technicians.
• Support shop productivity, safety compliance, and quality control initiatives.
• Maintain accurate repair records and work orders.

• Minimum 5 years of heavy-duty truck repair experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform complex repairs with little or no supervision.
• Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, drive trains, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and liftgate systems preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
• Must maintain a professional technician tool set.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL preferred but not required.

• All seven ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications (T2-T8)
