Concrete Form Setter, G104, Road & Bridge Department

This position performs concrete finishing duties in support of street maintenance operations.

• Measures job sites to ensure the preparation of adequate amounts of concrete.
• Mixes concrete.
• Constructs and maintains sidewalks, driveways, handicap ramps, and large pads.
• Repairs cuts in asphalt, curbs, sidewalks, and driveways.
• Repairs potholes.
• Operates a backhoe and other equipment as required.
• Orders materials and supplies.
• Performs pre-trip inspections of assigned equipment or vehicle; checks brakes, lights, belts, hoses, fluid levels, air pressure, etc., and reports equipment or vehicle service, maintenance, or repair needs to the immediate supervisor.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of concrete construction equipment, materials, and methods.
• Knowledge of carpentry principles.
• Knowledge of concrete finishing materials, standards, and procedures.
• Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
• Skill in interpreting blueprints.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English language and orally in the Spanish language.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of work experience.

• The work consists of related concrete finishing duties. Heavy traffic and inclement weather contribute to the complexity of the position.
• The purpose of this position is to perform concrete finishing duties in support of county public works projects. Successful performance helps ensure the safe and efficient completion of those projects.

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
• Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
• Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
• Working in hazardous conditions.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and/or standing.

• Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
• Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Operating machinery and/or power tools.
• Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
• Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
• Working in low temperatures.
• Working in high temperatures.
• Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
• Working in noisy environments.
• Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.

• Must possess a valid and current Texas Driver's License.
• The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
• This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
