To support our mission, we are looking for an Assistive Technology Specialist position to join the South Texas Mgmt Unit 6-6 Department. This position is located at 1406 Jacaman Rd, Laredo, TX.
TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

The Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS) performs advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) social service or case management work. Work involves collecting, preparing, and reviewing cases to facilitate access to medical, educational, social, and other services; and providing intervention and frequent contact with individuals, facilities, and service providers. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
General Duties- Oversees and reviews case management services for the assessment, purchase and delivery of assistive technology services to customers in coordination with Administrative and Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Supervisors, and under the direction of the VR Manager.
- Provides expertise and oversees the purchasing process for vehicle modification, home modification, durable medical equipment, and equipment assessments for complex rehabilitation technology customer needs.
- Assures policy compliance.
- Provides training, consultation and technical assistance to staff, program contractors and program providers related to the proper assessment, purchase, and delivery of assistive technology services to customers in coordination with Administrative and VR Supervisors and under the direction of the VR Manager.
- Consults and coordinates with the purchasing specialist to ensure appropriate application of comparable benefits for customer services.
- Conducts program analyses and research.
- Assesses service needs and formulates program plans.
- Assists in the preparation and justification of budget estimates as requested.
- May assign and/or supervise the work of others.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
