Responsible for a variety of duties that contribute towards safely providing requested services for aircraft, crews and passengers. Follow rules and regulations at all times. Off-load and load luggage from aircraft. Stocking bags on the baggage cart and aircraft servicing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
* Guide and direct incoming and outgoing aircraft on the taxiway to ensure that they are entering or leaving their gate safely and on-time.
* Load, unload, sort, and appropriately transfer passenger baggage, cargo/freight, and company materials. Some of these items can weigh up to 75 lbs.
* Drive ground equipment such as tugs to help the plane push in/out of the gate, belt loaders to help load baggage, and bag carts to deliver baggage to the claim area or the connecting flight.
* Supervision of fuel loading on the aircraft.
* Collaborate with the internal team to ensure a safe and on-time departure.
* May clean the interior of the aircraft, clean and service aircraft lavatories.
* Create a positive start to a passenger's trip by being the first to greet the passenger and providing a seamless check-in and ticketing experience.
* Use appropriate reservation/ticketing software to rebook itineraries, issue boarding passes, calculate and collect any appropriate fees.
* Collaborate with the internal team to ensure passenger information is processed accurately and flights are sent out on time.
* Listen to passengers and resolve their issues in accordance to company policies and procedures as a result of flight interruptions in a timely and friendly manner.
* May work in the Baggage Service Office to track the location of baggage and handle passenger questions.
* Ensure that facilities are maintained in optimal condition, reporting any irregularities.
* Ensure that local security procedures are carried out.
* Custody and surveillance of the aircraft and processes during its stay on the platform
* Successfully complete required airline trainings.
COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES
Knowledge of:
* Knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
* Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, methods, and equipment.
* Knowledge of telephone and radio operating requirements, techniques, and etiquette.
Skills and Abilities:
* Skill and speed in the operation of radio and telephone equipment.
* Ability to speak with a clear, well-modulated voice in English and Spanish.
* Ability to maintain clerical records and to prepare reports from such records.
* Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.
* Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public.
* Ability to use computer hardware, various software programs and technologies, including word processing and Excel spreadsheet programs. (Finalist(s) will be tested in the use of Excel program)
* Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
* Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.
* Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
* Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints.
* Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo.
* Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
* Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures.
* Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position.
