Job Summary
This position is responsible for fueling and lubricating vehicles and equipment.
Major Duties- Hauls fuel to job sites to fuel equipment and vehicles.
- Operates a two-way radio to locate equipment operators.
- Maintains a log of fuel usage and consumption.
- Greases and lubricates heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Maintains assigned truck.
- Prepares daily records of fuel and lubricants dispensed.
- Responds to after‑hours emergencies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of county policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of departmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Skill in operating a fuel truck.
- Skill in operating a two-way radio.
- Skill in operating hand and power tools.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have at least one year of related experience.
The work consists of related duties in operating a fuel truck. Heavy traffic and inclement weather contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to fuel departmental vehicles and equipment. Successful performance in this position facilitates further work processes.
Physical Demands / Work Environment- Occasionally: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
- Occasionally: Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Occasionally: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally: Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Occasionally: Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Occasionally: Working in low temperatures.
- Occasionally: Working in high temperatures.
- Occasionally: Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
- Constantly: Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Constantly: Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Constantly: Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Constantly: Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Constantly: Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Constantly: Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Constantly: Working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Constantly: Working in noisy environments.
- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
- The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required.
- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
