- Safely operate a box truck, including manual transmission vehicles, on local and over-the-road (OTR) routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured according to logistics cargo handling protocols.
- Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimized delivery routes, adjusting plans as needed for traffic or road conditions.
- Deliver freight efficiently to various destinations, including refrigerated trailers or specialized equipment such as flatbeds or tankers when required.
- Handle hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following hazardous materials regulations and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure safety standards are met; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or route driving with a focus on freight transportation.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, or tractor-trailers is preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload cargo safely using manual handling techniques.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient deliveries.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated; experience with manual transmissions is a plus.
- Prior delivery driver experience involving freight movement across multiple locations is highly valued.
