Position Information

The Laredo District is looking for a Transportation Specialist to work in the Advanced Planning Section based in Laredo, TX. With the vital support from this position in a rapidly expanding border District, TxDOT is designing, building, and maintaining the essential roadway/bridge infrastructure serving the Citizens of Texas. The Laredo District is part of a diverse workforce of over 12,000 employees statewide.

Salary Grade

Transportation Specialist I: B19/$48,244 - $76,028
Transportation Specialist II : B20/$51,158 - $81,351

Transportation Specialist I:
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving design, building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments;

however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Transportation Specialist II:
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities.

Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
