Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating the proper receiving, storing, and shipping of all incoming freight and data entry floor transactions.
- Follows and ensures compliance with operational procedures for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory.
- Coordinates the receipt and processing of all incoming freight, examines freight for damage, maintains inventory management, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and places freight in proper location.
- Coordinates the movement of trailers within the facility grounds.
- Coordinates yard and dock checks.
- Coordinates the preparation of materials for shipment: verifies part numbers, counts boxes and skids as necessary, verifies correct paperwork and bar coding, and matches trailer number with load.
- Inspects and reports physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
- Escalates the need for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
- Confers with the supervisor/manager to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
- Supports and complies with all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
- Makes sure that the OS&D quarantine area is organized and procedures are followed.
- Ensures that all material handlers have assignments and the appropriate tools to do their job.
- Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
- Can handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously or switch rapidly between tasks while maintaining high productivity and accuracy.
Responsibilities include participating in interviews with supervisor/manager present, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback to supervisor/manager on performance of employees; and assisting the Manager in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Education:
High school diploma or GED; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Language
Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write in English is required. Ability to speak Spanish and English may be required in some centers. - Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. - Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of TMS software. - Certificates, Licensed, Registrations:
Pass Protrans Forklift Performance Tests. - Other
Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of loading and unloading trailers, including the use of logistics bars.
Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to hear in order to perform essential job functions. Employees are regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk. Employees occasionally need to sit, climb, or balance. Specific hearing abilities include hearing forklifts, nearby individuals, and common environmental noises at all times.
WorkEnvironment
The work environment includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, and trucks. The employee frequently encounters wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather. Occasional exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat occurs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
