Warehouse Team Leader – Job Summary

The Warehouse Team Leader will supervise a variety of general warehouse activities and support staff. Responsibilities may be assigned or reassigned as needed. This description reflects the current assignment of essential functions.

Essential Job Functions
  • Warehouse Operations Leadership: Lead and coordinate daily tasks to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations. Act as the point of contact for the team, providing guidance and problem‑solving support to ensure productivity targets are met. Monitor team performance, providing immediate feedback and addressing inefficiencies on the floor. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to implement changes that improve process efficiency and accuracy.
  • Outbound Shipment Management: Guide the team through picking, staging, and loading of outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy in product selection. Verify the team’s work to ensure correct shipment approval and carrier assignment. Ensure all deadlines for outbound shipments are met and troubleshoot any issues in real‑time.
  • Inbound Shipment Supervision: Lead the team in unloading and staging inbound shipments, ensuring accurate labeling and storage. Assist in resolving any OS&D (Over, Short & Damaged) issues and report them to the supervisor. Ensure the team properly updates the warehouse management system (WMS) for inbound goods.
  • Equipment and Trailer Oversight: Oversee the team’s proper use and maintenance of equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks. Ensure trailers are efficiently organized and assist with equipment safety checks. Lead the team in the execution of special projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and project specifications. Report progress and any challenges faced to the warehouse supervisor.
  • Inventory Control & Cycle Counting: Lead the team in daily cycle counts and assist with inventory reconciliation efforts. Report discrepancies and ensure the team follows best practices for inventory management.
  • Employee Supervision and Development: Provide day‑to‑day leadership and support to team members, ensuring that they are properly trained and following safety protocols. Offer coaching and on‑the‑job training to improve individual and team performance. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages open communication and teamwork.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure team adherence to safety standards and warehouse policies. Conduct routine safety checks and ensure that any violations or concerns are addressed immediately.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate documentation of team activities, including tracking shipments and inventory movements. Report team performance and issues to the warehouse supervisor regularly.
Education and Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of work experience, including two (2) years supervising personnel in a warehouse within a public or private organization, preferably with experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement.
  • Forklift certification preferred but not required.
Licenses and Certifications

No certifications are required for the Warehouse Team Leader position. Any additional certifications related to equipment operation or safety standards are encouraged and may be considered when evaluating qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Work performed outside with exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor elements, fumes, smoke, gases, dust, grease, and oils.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to a 40‑pound wooden skid or pallet.
