Senior Tax Specialist -
This is a Senior Tax Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program's, Audit Process. The incumbent completes tax audits for sales and use taxes and provides technical assistance and support to audit staff, and trains employees in tax law, audit procedures, and audit programs. The incumbent develops, maintains, and delivers educational courses, creates engaging audit training content that is delivered remotely, live, or online, and self-study courses, facilitates training through web conferencing software or in a classroom setting, and acts as an on-the-job trainer.
The incumbent also performs audits with the trainee and may travel to the taxpayer's location, reviews audits for quality control; assists with audits; provides feedback for development of audit procedures; prepares presentations regarding tax law and audit procedures; and develops surveys to measure learner satisfaction and course effectiveness.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Two years and six months of experience in the compliance audit process performing sales and use tax audits.
- Experience training others.
Preferences:
- Six months of experience as a Tax Auditor IV or Tax Auditor V.
Special Notes:
- For applicants with a current CAD, the CAD will be added to the salary amount.
- This position requires use of your personal vehicle to conduct work assignments.
- This position may require travel which may include multiple overnight stays.
Salary:
The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $5,327.09 monthly/$63,925.08 annually.
