Key Account Manager

Overview

Airgas is seeking a strategic and dynamic Key Account Manager to drive service excellence, growth, and retention for nationally visible retail accounts. The role centers on building strong, long‑term client relationships and serves as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact for assigned strategic national accounts.
  • Cultivate lasting relationships by delivering exceptional service, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring high retention rates.
  • Maintain comprehensive, up‑to‑date records for each account, including overviews, management processes, contacts, and essential documentation.
  • Lead account rollout and closure processes by partnering with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation and ongoing support.
  • Extract and analyze data from various systems to manage orders, update account information, and identify trends or issues.
  • Proactively identify recurring issues and collaborate with stakeholders and leadership to implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with national sales teams, regional leaders, and other stakeholders to maximize account efficiency and uncover new business opportunities.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development initiatives across multiple levels of the organization.
Qualifications
  • Contract expertise: demonstrated experience in reading, interpreting, and executing contracts/agreements at a strategic level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead conference calls and deliver compelling presentations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex accounts independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Exceptional time‑management and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables); familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  • Self‑driven and motivated, capable of thriving in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: 5+ years in Account Management or B2B Sales, with prior account administration/management experience.
