Business Office Assistant – Largo, FL
Full‑time position at Smiles on East Bay supported by Heartland Dental. Join an experienced, patient‑focused team practicing in Largo, FL.
Work Schedule- Monday‑Friday, 7:30am – Close (During Training Period)
- Tuesday‑Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm (Schedule change after training completed)
- Monday schedule based on business needs
- Hours subject to change

- Greet and welcome patients as they enter the office to create a great first impression
- Manage front office duties: answer phones, check office mail and email, communicate with patients and insurance companies
- Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and records
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers in the office
- File patient insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims, verify benefits and explain coverage
- Post insurance and patient payments and process accounts receivables
- Review treatment plan fees and payment options with patients
- Partner with providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems to optimize office potential
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2‑3+ years of dental or medical office front‑office work experience
- Leadership mindset
- Strong understanding of financials, accounting, budgets, and P&L statements
- Very comfortable with technology, computers, and software troubleshooting
- Insurance billing and accounts receivable experience
- Working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
- Experience with Dentrix or other dental software

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in‑person) periodically throughout the year
- All new hires in dental office positions required to complete a tuberculosis (TB) test before starting employment; test will be arranged during pre‑employment process. Not applicable in the states of FL & TN.
