About the Role

At Wendover Art Group, the Signage Consultant sits at the intersection of design, hospitality, architecture, regulation, and manufacturing. This is a highly customer-facing role for someone who can understand a client’s vision and transform it into a signage program that is as visually compelling as it is functional and compliant.

You will serve as the face and voice of Wendover for our signage customers, guiding projects from early conversations and architectural plan review through design development and final execution. You will understand how guests experience and navigate a property, determine what signage is needed and where it belongs, and help shape the materials, finishes, typography, and design details that bring the environment together.

Success in this role requires both sides of signage expertise: a strong aesthetic eye and a strong understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements behind great signage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the customer’s signage expert, understanding their vision, brand, property, aesthetic direction, guest experience, operational needs, and project requirements.
  • Translate customer needs into comprehensive signage packages encompassing sign types, quantities, messaging, placement, materials, finishes, way finding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Read and interpret architectural plans, floor plans, elevations, and project documentation to identify signage requirements and opportunities.
  • Develop signage and way finding strategies for hotels, resorts, restaurants, multifamily, and other hospitality-driven environments.
  • Determine appropriate signage placement based on guest flow, sightlines, accessibility, architectural conditions, functionality, and design intent.
  • Apply knowledge of ADA, accessibility, building, egress, life-safety, and other applicable signage requirements throughout project development.
  • Bring a strong aesthetic perspective to signage, influencing typography, materials, finishes, color, dimensionality, illumination, and visual integration with the surrounding environment.
  • Partner with customers and designers to ensure regulatory signage feels intentional and integrated into the property's broader design language.
  • Present recommendations and confidently guide customers toward solutions rather than simply executing requests.
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, or opportunities within signage plans and proactively develop solutions before they impact execution.
  • Partner closely with Creative, Industrial Design & Product Engineering, Account Project Management, Production, and Quality to translate customer expectations into successful finished products.
  • Develop strong knowledge of Wendover’s materials, construction methods, mounting systems, lighting capabilities, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
  • Remain engaged throughout the project lifecycle to maintain alignment between customer vision, design intent, compliance, manufacturability, and final execution.
Qualifications
  • Experience in signage, environmental graphic design, way finding, architecture, interior design, hospitality design, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of signage planning, programming, placement, and way finding principles.
  • Experience working with hospitality projects and an understanding of how signage contributes to the guest experience.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural plans, floor plans, elevations, and related documentation.
  • Working knowledge of ADA and accessibility requirements, life-safety signage, building codes, and other regulations affecting signage programs.
  • Strong aesthetic judgment with the ability to evaluate typography, materials, finishes, scale, color, and overall design integration.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with regulatory, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills with the ability to establish credibility and confidently guide clients.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage complex signage packages involving numerous sign types, locations, requirements, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative problem solver who can work effectively across creative, technical, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Curious and proactive, with an interest in continually expanding knowledge of materials, fabrication, hospitality design, signage technologies, and evolving regulatory requirements.
