ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health disorders. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Medical Director provides clinical and administrative leadership for all medical and psychiatric services within the organization. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care in compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and accepted medical practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide administrative and clinical oversight of all medical and psychiatric services, including supervision of physicians and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and implementation of quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Develop, review, and approve medical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practice requirements, including oversight of medical documentation and required clinical approvals. (including sign treatment plans, assessments, certifications, and discharge documentation)
  • Monitor quality of care through peer review, chart audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct medical and psychiatric evaluations, physical exams, and mental status exams as needed.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Facilitate withdrawal management and inpatient admissions when clinically indicated.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and coordinate care with nursing and program leadership.
  • Provide consultation to third-party payors when necessary to support access to care.
  • Participate in agency committees and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Represent the organization in community, legislative, and professional settings.
  • Serve as the responsible physician for Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) services in accordance with 42 CFR Part 8 and applicable state regulations.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of addiction medicine, psychiatry, and general medical practice.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology and medication-assisted treatment protocols.
  • Ability to interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.
  • Knowledge of age-specific growth and development considerations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, clients, families, and community partners.
  • Commitment to ethical practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain clinical standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of post-graduate clinical practice, inclusive of psychiatric residency
  • Experience in addiction treatment and/or behavioral health preferred.
  • Florida-licensed allopathic or osteopathic psychiatrist
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Active and unrestricted Physician license in the State of Florida.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move between program locations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically.
  • Ability to review and prepare detailed medical documentation.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies as needed.
