Role Summary
Principal Systems Engineer – Helios – Onsite (Largo, FL)
Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, seeks an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to support U.S. military and international defense programs. The position is onsite and requires a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance available on Day
1.
- Define integration and test environment for hardware and software integrated systems.
- Develop and execute automated test plans, including system‑level testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure system compatibility and performance.
- Decompose interface requirements and architecture to support integration and testing activities.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute innovative ideas for product performance.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders on project milestones and deliverables.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 8 years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience OR 12 years of experience in the absence of a degree.
- Current U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
- Experience with DoD systems engineering processes, technical reviews, audits, and MIL‑STD compliance.
- Proficiency in creating verification plans, conducting test procedures, and managing requirement traceability matrices (e.g., IBM DOORS, Cameo).
- Demonstrated ability to design, conduct, and document IV&V activities, including hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HITL) and software testing.
- Experience with voice communication systems (VoIP, SIP, RTP, SRTP).
- Knowledge of configuration management practices for system changes, revisions, and baselines.
- Ability to write comprehensive test reports and discrepancy reports.
- Hands‑on experience with integration and testing tools such as MATLAB, Python, Robot Framework, Selenium Web Driver, Ansible, DOORS, Cameo, JIRA/Confluence.
- Experience with MBSE using UAF and requirements verification modeling in Cameo.
- Knowledge of military specifications (MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461) and use of system design tools (MATLAB, Simulink).
