Are you up for a challenge? Mission Systems Engineering is a leader in the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development, and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. The department supports customers for Land, Sea, and Airborne Programs for our US military and various international customers, keeping the world safe from foreign threats.
The department is seeking motivated and driven mechanical engineers with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, analysis, integration and production support. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Integrated Program Team (IPT) consisting of System, Hardware and Software Engineers. Your work can support development of next generation systems, design enhancements, upgrades for existing products, and transition to production efforts.
Product areas can include circuit card assemblies, electronic assemblies, and reflector-type antennas for communications systems.
What You Will Do
- Perform mechanical design, development, analysis and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements
- Provide support to production and suppliers during product integration
- Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. This can include engineering managers, engineers, designers, and structural/thermal analysts, other disciplines, program management, suppliers, and external customers
- Support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions
- Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
Qualifications You Must Have
- Experience designing and developing hardware, with some exposure to the different phases of product development (concept design, detailed design, production, product support)
- Experience in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools
- Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
