CAPRA Accreditation & Program Coordinator

Location:

Parks Administration Building 12520 Ulmerton Rd., Largo, FL 33774

Schedule:

Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Join our team as an CAPRA Accreditation & Program Coordinator and play a key role in leading departmental efforts to achieve national accreditation. You’ll work closely with leadership and partners across the organization to apply national standards in meaningful ways and strengthen the services we provide to the public. This position is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and overseeing the department’s national accreditation process by ensuring compliance with nationally recognized standards.

Additionally, this role will manage the department’s electronic document storage system, maintaining accurate, secure, and accessible records while working collaboratively across the department.

What Would You Do?
  • Direct and oversee the professional standards mandated or recommended by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks & Recreation Agencies through the National Recreation & Parks Association (CAPRA).
  • Coordinate processes and compliance activities, including assessments to evaluate and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of agency policies and the accreditation programs, and prepare the department for re-accreditation.
  • Communicate with the Commission for Accreditation of Parks & Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) for all accreditation related matters.
  • Review a variety of complex and technical issues concerning department policies and standards relevant to the accreditation process.
  • Develop educational initiatives and conduct department-wide in-service training related to CAPRA standards.
  • Assist managers and supervisors with policy and accreditation compliance and provide accreditation guidance for all department employees.
  • Remain informed of all aspects of the accreditation process; propose changes or amendments to policies and standards; assess the impact of changes to current policy and procedures.
  • Facilitate the drafting of new and/or revised departmental policies and procedures and update policy and procedure manual to be compliant with applicable accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate data collection, track performance measures and generate statistical reports.
  • Maintain proficiency in the operation of software programs specifically related to the department’s electronic document storage system and the accreditation process.
  • Attend and participate in accreditation meetings, conferences, and serve on accreditation related committees to receive education on latest trends, best practices, and standards.
  • Assist other agencies in their accreditation efforts and respond to requests for information from other entities and the public; represent Parks & Conservation Resources when working with outside agencies and groups.
  • Make recommendations based on accreditation inspections and best practices.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.
What You Need to Have?
  • Experience:

    Professional experience in administration of comprehensive park and recreation programs.
  • Degree:
    Recreation administration, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field.
  • At least 7 years as described above.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field and 5 years’ experience as described above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years’ experience as described above.
  • Master’s degree and 1 year’s experience or higher-level degree.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Highly Desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint and 365 Applications.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of parks and recreation national accreditation process.
  • Advanced knowledge of standards for national accreditation.
  • Knowledge of local ordinances, State and/or Federal statutes, and rules and regulations that impact the operations of the department.
  • Skill in researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of information and statistical data and materials.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining files and record keeping systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with work colleagues, supervisors, managers, and the public.
  • Ability to maintain metadata naming conventions for compliance and easy access to electronically stored files.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint.
