Job OverviewThe Office of the Inspector General is seeking a Career Service Inspector responsible for conducting complex investigations, audits and inspections to protect public integrity within the Florida Department of Corrections. The successful candidate will lead investigations into waste, fraud, abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct and whistle blower reports. This is a sworn, non‑telework position required to report to the FDC office in their area of responsibility.

Job Duties- Conduct or lead complex investigations involving waste, fraud, abuse, public corruption, serious employee misconduct and whistle blower cases.
- Ensure investigations are performed consistently with IG Directives and FDC Policies and Procedures.
- Interview complainants, witnesses and subjects related to alleged violations of state law or departmental procedures.
- Write and review investigative reports and final findings.
- Perform investigative, administrative, financial and public corruption investigations.
- Conduct comprehensive whistle blower reviews pursuant to FSS 112.3187 (Florida Whistle‑blower's Act).
- Coordinate IG investigations with the Office of the Chief Inspector General and the Executive Office of the Governor.

- Valid Correctional Officer or Correctional Probation Officer certification issued by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
- At least 3 years of full‑time experience as a Correctional Officer or Correctional Probation Officer.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 1 year of investigative experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Florida Statutes related to Law Enforcement Officers’ and Correctional Officers’ Rights (F.S. 118.672 and related provisions).
- Highly skilled in time management and organization.
- Strong report‑writing skills.
- Strong investigative skills with emphasis on comprehensive investigations and interviews.
Background screening requirement:
All applicants must pass a Level 2 background check per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, before commencing employment.
