Pre-Admission Testing Technician (PAT Tech)

The Preadmission Testing Technician (PAT Tech) has the responsibility for organizing and directing activities in accordance with AAAHC, Medicare and all other applicable federal, state and local guidelines.
Patient ResponsibilitiesThe PAT Tech may assume the following PAT responsibilities:
- Contact all patients, by way of telephone, prior to surgery to obtain medical and medication history.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate team member as indicated.
- Contact all patients with surgical arrival time the day before their procedure.
- Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Medical Assistant Certification Preferred or LPN License Required
- Preferred One (1) year of experience in Pre/Post Op or PACU
- BLS Certified
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans and prepares for the preadmission of the patient
- Meets all required deadlines; demonstrates discretionary ability in establishing priority
- Uses judgment in decision-making
- Ensures that all patient responses are communicated to responsible practitioners as indicated and that all components of the PAT process are documented in accordance with standards of practice
- Demonstrated ability to apply organizational skills to facilitate a smooth flow of workload
- Ability to recognize and intervene in stressful situations
- Ability to independently solve problems in a positive, results-oriented manner
- Excellent communication skills both via telephone and in person
- Maintain HIPAA & PHI confidentiality
- Maintains BLS certification
- Maintains or acquires skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities
- Performs effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities
- Demonstrates professionalism and ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrates high quality customer service to patients, families, physicians, and coworkers
- Performs additional duties as needed by the department
