Medical Receptionist, Healthcare Administration
Responsibilities
- Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
- Performs patient registration in various systems.
- Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collects monies for time‑of‑service patient responsibility as necessary.
- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization as required.
- Conducts preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, including medical history.
- Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
- Provides patients with preliminary and post‑procedure instructions.
- Assists in preparing the mobile unit for transport.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked.
- Ensures accuracy of patient records and schedules patient appointments.
- Prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
- Assists clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
- Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire; for Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
- Valid state driver’s license required; ability to work at several locations required.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
- Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
- The COVID‑19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
- All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
- Preferred:
Six months customer service or related experience and/or training. - Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients.
Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit; may be exposed to a strong magnetic field or radioactive material; may be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease and environmental hazards such as noise and travel.
