Job SummaryThe Youth Care Specialist is a direct care staff position responsible for the daily activities of the FSS licensed group home, Providence House, which includes facility and program documentation, implementing house rules and behavior plans, and providing for the safety and well‑being of residents. This position has an emphasis on engaging high‑risk youth assigned to the home in overcoming obstacles that contribute to placement instability.
EssentialDuties
- Implement house rules for residents, including individual behavior management plans.
- Ensure all incidents, injuries, and/or events are reported to the appropriate parties in a timely manner.
- Participate in all required house and organizational meetings.
- Provide feedback on residents’ behaviors, needs, and progress on outcomes established in the Individual Service Plan.
- Thoroughly review youth records and placement needs to ensure all available supports are requested and received prior to youth supervision.
- Complete assigned shift duties and responsibilities.
- Complete all required trainings.
- Other duties as needed.
12pm-10pm Saturday through Tuesday or 3pm-11pm Saturday through Wednesday.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field preferred. - Experience:
At least one (1) year of experience working with at‑risk children. - Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Valid driver’s license. - Ability to represent self and the organization in a professional manner.
- Work irregular hours/shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High level of energy, adaptability to irregular hours, and flexibility to rotate shifts as needed.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
- Assess a situation and make appropriate recommendations/decisions based on child safety.
- Solve problems and think through critical, time‑sensitive issues.
- Establish and maintain professional boundaries with residents and community partners.
- Work collaboratively with staff at all levels in the organization.
- Perform routine cleaning duties including mopping, sweeping, dusting, and laundry.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Remain awake and alert during any shift.
- Competent written and verbal communication.
- Strong follow‑up and follow through.
- Acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultural and spiritual practices.
- Ability to use different technological platforms.

- Clear a reference check.
- Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside.
- Clear a Florida abuse and neglect records check.
- Clear a substance abuse screen.
- Provide a copy of all degrees prior to first day of employment.
- Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and be insurable under the company’s automobile policy.
- Provide copy of automobile insurance.
- Provide proof of and maintain a minimum personal auto liability insurance level $100,000/$300,000 if deemed to be a driving risk.
- Clear an E‑Verify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States (for more information visit (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
- Maintain certification in CPR.
- Complete at least 40 hours of training annually.
- Maintain certification in Human Trafficking through the state of Florida.
- Maintain certification in Professional Crisis Management (PCM).
