The Caregiver role is integral to the success of our team, community, and residents’ sense of home. The primary purpose is to provide routine daily care services to residents in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with the assessment and service plan.

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and mobility, maintaining resident dignity and respect in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
• Assist with moving and transferring residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., following all safety and transferring techniques.
• Communicate relevant information (including incident reports) and any observed or suspected changes in condition to a supervisor immediately.
• Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
• Encourage residents to socialize and participate in scheduled activities and outings, and assist with those activities as needed.
• Respond promptly and courteously to all resident alerts, needs, and requests for care, and provide assistance as needed.
• Observe emotional condition of residents and promptly report changes to the nurse.
• Follow and promote personal safety and infection control practices; report unsafe situations to the nurse or management.
• Check each resident according to the service schedule to ensure personal care needs are met in accordance with their wishes.
• Assist in safety drills to ensure resident safety.
• Perform other essential job-related duties as assigned.

• Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
• Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
• Work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
• Maintain confidentiality to protect resident privacy.
• Knowledge and proficiency with the facility's electronic health record (EHR).

• Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
• Prefer 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.

This position does not have direct reports or supervisory requirements.

The position may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Tasks may require lifting and other physical activities as detailed below.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; moving or transferring residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to exert force to lift and carry to a height of 3 feet, push and pull up to 5 feet.
• Ability to use abdominal and back muscles over time without fatigue.
• Ability to stand for extended periods; ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.
• Fine motor skills.

• Hearing and visual acuity sufficient for performance of duties.
