About the Role

The Starburst Engineering Department at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to contribute to the development and deployment of Cyber Security solutions on the Starburst program. The role is critical to the program’s execution and requires integration with a multi‑discipline team that includes System Engineers, Software Engineers, Cyber Engineers, Digital Technology, and Field Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and sustain security requirements for deployed products and services in operational and sustainment states.
  • Support and deploy new capabilities within a custom, air‑gapped Department of Defense IT network on a daily basis.
  • Create, present, and update system documentation, schematics, operational guides, and procedures.
  • Interface with other teams to define, evaluate, and implement cyber risk posture, mitigation, and information assurance across the enterprise IT portfolio.
  • Work primarily onsite in a closed‑area environment; occasional off‑site work may be required.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Solid background in systems administration using Linux and Windows desktop and server operating systems (Windows
    11/Server
    2022/RHEL).
  • Broad understanding of traditional and current on‑prem enterprise IT systems and technologies and their impact on security for Identification, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM), secure enterprise messaging, enterprise logging, ingest, cyber situational awareness, and endpoint detection and response.
  • Active DoD
    8570 IAT LevelII certification (e.g., CISSP and/or Security+).
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance with SCI eligibility required prior to start date.
  • Typical requirement of a STEM degree plus a minimum of 5years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree plus a minimum of 3years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient knowledge of enterprise identity management applications and design, including LDAP (e.g., Active Directory) and PKI.
  • Experience with various computing hardware and software platforms, including servers and workstations, and supporting commercial off‑the‑shelf software applications.
  • Experience maintaining Windows servers and troubleshooting software applications.
  • Experience with enterprise firewalls, including knowledge of firewall policies and rule sets.
  • Understanding of basic network engineering fundamentals, including OSI layers, IP addressing, subnetting, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, well‑known ports, and protocols.
