The Manufacturing Engineering Department Manager will provide leadership of the engineering and technical resources required to support ongoing factory technical support, ensuring operational excellence across the various manufacturing processes from planning to transition to production, through production execution and customer support. This is a highly visible role and is expected to champion collaboration by bringing best in class solutions which deliver innovative manufacturing technologies and processes to create sustained growth while driving affordability.
This position is in a fast-paced environment and is a key enabler for leading factory technical execution. This role is highly collaborative with cross-functional factory, program and engineering leaders to execute tactical and strategic goals. This role also collaborates with the Collins Mission Systems Manufacturing Engineering extended leadership team, working cohesively with the other manufacturing engineering leaders within the Collins Operations and Supply Chain organization to share best practices and to advance manufacturing engineering strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in manufacturing engineering leadership roles.
What You Will Do:
- People leader of ~50-60 Manufacturing engineers, including department staff of 5+ composed of Section Managers / Technical Leads located in Largo, FL.
- Collaborate and build strong cross-functional teams to meet Largo factory goals, with direct responsibility for leading assembly and test instructions, yield improvements, technical issue investigation and root cause/corrective action, improvement of factory processes, and test equipment maintenance procedures, while supporting factory on-time delivery and cost targets.
- Responsible for managing the department leadership team and technical staff, leading performance management activities, goal setting, career counseling, compensation planning, and employee training and talent development activities, while holding employees accountable to demonstrate RTX Values and Behaviors and adhering to the Code of Conduct.
- Support site initiatives and strategy as a member of the Largo Site Leadership team
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of engineering talent with the competencies required to support execution of factory operations.
- Support new business capture and successful factory transition by reviewing bids for any new production activities and participating in technology and manufacturing readiness reviews, providing design inputs for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
