Position Overview

We are seeking a Compounding Operator to join a manufacturing operation in Largo, FL. This is a hands-on production position responsible for preparing and mixing resin batches according to detailed formulations, operating compounding equipment, performing quality inspections, packaging finished products, and maintaining accurate production records.

Candidates with experience in manufacturing, machine operation, plastics, chemical processing, compounding, blending, mixing, injection molding, or other industrial production environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare batches of resins using detailed formulations and mix sheets, including pre-blending raw materials.

  • Accurately weigh and load ingredients into ribbon blenders and drum tumblers according to formulation specifications.

  • Perform start-up, shutdown, and routine maintenance of 40mm and 60mm compo under lines and associated water systems.

  • Weigh, package, and label finished products according to work order specifications.

  • Perform routine production maintenance on compounders, pelletizers, dryers, and water systems.

  • Disassemble compounding equipment for screen changes and cleaning.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.

  • Operate and maintain associated equipment used in the production of compounds.

  • Collect compound samples and mold ASTM slabs as required for each work order.

  • Visually inspect products for defects and initiate corrective action when necessary.

  • Accurately enter production and quality data into applicable computer systems.

  • Complete manufacturing documentation, work orders, stock movement tickets, scrap tickets, identification tags, and other required paperwork.

  • Communicate production status, equipment issues, and other important information between shifts.

  • Assist with training employees on proper production techniques and procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

  • Follow all established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Perform additional production-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, machine operation, compounding, blending, mixing, plastics, chemical processing, or a related industrial environment preferred.

  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions, formulations, mix sheets, and work orders.

  • Ability to properly complete production, work order, and time-reporting documentation.

  • Operational knowledge of compounding equipment or related production machinery is preferred.

  • Injection molding machine experience is a plus.

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability preferred.

  • Ability to accurately weigh, measure, and mix materials according to established formulations.

  • Comfortable using computerized production or quality systems.

  • Must be willing and able to become forklift certified.

  • Strong attention to safety, quality, accuracy, and detail.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand throughout the workday.

  • Ability to periodically climb stairs or steps.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulder height and below the waist.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds as required.

Work Environment

This position works in an industrial manufacturing environment. Required PPE may include hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

Candidates should be comfortable working around:

  • Loud production machinery

  • Varying temperatures

  • Dust and fumes

  • Materials and chemicals associated with the manufacturing process
