Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and ensuring adherence to SOPs under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions; follow SOPs for medical emergencies, coordinate with the Center Physician, and transport donors to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues and donor safety/eligibility concerns.
- Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate‑equivalent nursing education with state requirements.
- Current license or certification in the state of assignment: LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfil state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, and location.
