Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Overview

The Registered Nurse position performs a variety of nursing duties in caring for patients from minor treatment to acutely ill in a one-of-a-kind, free-standing outpatient facility, providing easy access to unscheduled care. This hyper-efficient delivery of Emergency Medicine Specialty Services combined with an outpatient facility efficiently provides high quality care that can yield lower ER visits, lower hospital admissions, and create savings.

• Completion of orders on a variety of patients from minor treatment to acutely ill.
• Perform accurate triages and discharges of patients of all ages and identify patients with critical needs.
• Perform medication management in relation to administration, record maintenance, and storage.
• Input patient discharge instructions and prescriptions into computer software accurately.
• Perform quality splinting, dressing applications, and wound care.
• Perform EKGs/cardiac monitoring with recognition of arrhythmias.
• Prepare procedures per organizational protocols (e.g., I&D, suturing, pelvic, lumbar puncture, chest tubes, etc.).
• Communicate positively with all team members and patients.
• Proper delegation of duties to PCCs, Lab Staff, and Radiology Staff.
• Initiate Pre-MD evaluation orders when appropriate to expedite patient care.
• Utilize organizational software to reference old patient records and protocols.
• Support the Facility Leader (FL) and Nurse Operations Manager (NOM) by being a positive team player.
• Follow information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness and reporting on performance.

Required Education

• Associate’s degree.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 3+ years in a Critical Care Setting (ICU) with at least two years in an Emergency Room (hospital or freestanding).
• Less than 3 years’ experience may be considered with an internal recommendation.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Active Florida RN License or compact RN license with authorization to practice in Florida. Must convert to Florida license within 60 days of hire.
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform duties in a busy medical environment (standing, walking, teaching, public speaking, pulling, pushing, lifting, etc.).
• Able to stand and work up to a 12-hour shift in the facility.
• RN candidates currently employed by or affiliated with medical marijuana clinics are ineligible for hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in an ER setting (hospital or freestanding) is highly preferred.

• Travel up to 30% to support clinic operations across the market, including coverage at other locations, trainings, meetings, and other operational needs.

The physical demands describe the requirements to successfully perform the essential functions. The employee may be required to stand, walk, use hands to operate tools and equipment, and exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Repetitive reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, and pulling may be required.

Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Indoor work environment with exposure to noise. The worker may be exposed to varying weather conditions depending on location and may experience outdoor or warehouse conditions such as loud noises, vibration, fumes, dust, odors, and mists as applicable.
